"Bad company corrupts good morals"
Beware … going into war with the wrong allies - and with a chink in the armour!
As Christians we must consider the danger the US and her allies place themselves in as a result of ignoring the apostle Paul's inspired advice in 1 Corinthians 15:33: ' Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."' We are used to hearing Billy Graham associate with other religions and are appalled when we hear him commending Roman Catholics, who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, to stay in the church of Rome. Rome practices idolatry and the Bible is clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with such unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:17 - quoting Isaiah 52:11):
"Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord. "AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you.'
This is not condemning guilt by association, which is not taught in Bible, but we have the clear evidence of guilt by co-operation, participation, and identification by supplying armament to corrupt regimes for money, or for the promise of a continued oil supply. The USA, Britain, and the UN, in dealing with corrupt nations like Saudi Arabia, are yoked with Islam which acts outside of God's laws, morals and justice. The Saudi's accept protection from the West while persecuting Christians and peoples of other faiths in their own country! How foolishly hypocritical of all involved!
In Ephesians 6:13 we are instructed:
Therefore, take up the full armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
Paul informs us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against demonic powers (Romans 8:38):
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What we see happening in the middle East, particularly through the aggression of Islam, is the result of demonic powers. In the Old Testament we can read Ezra, Nehemiah, Haggai and Zechariah and see that the same things were happening then. God's ancient prophets revealed what was happening in the heavenlies while political struggles continued on the earth. The prophet Daniel was inspired to give us the notable verse (Daniel 10:13):
"But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
These things happening on earth are a reflection of what is happening in the heavenlies (Revelation 12:7):
And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels waged war;
Carey … attacked Jewish evangelism and withdrew his patronage!
Christians expect to be in a war against demonic powers and so are told to put on the armour in order to stand firm. In describing the armour Paul was drawing on an actual model that could be understood by both Greek and Hebrew believers in Ephesus. The Jews would understood what he was saying because of Isaiah 11:5 Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist. The shoes of Ephesians 6:15 ['having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE] are described in Isaiah 52:7:
How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
The armour also mentioned in Isaiah 57:17:
And He put on righteousness like a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.
The Greeks would also have been familiar with the Roman soldier's armour which they saw every day because of the Roman occupation. It was impressive armour and spoke of the might of Rome in Paul's day. But what does Rome represent today for those who are allied with her in ecumenism? And what of those who ally themselves with Islam through pacts made with Pakistan or Saudi Arabia?
We have clear lessons in Scripture of the danger of going into war with the wrong allies - and with a chink in the armour! Billy Graham tells us: 'God has told us in His Word, time after time, that we are to repent of our sins and we're to turn to Him and He will bless us in a new way.' Sin will always find you out eventually - whether you are big or small. And if we don't repent it CAN utterly destroy! Sin exposes the individual, but it exposes the nature of the body of the church.
Something has happened to Christianity over the last century which is not new. It is something that has happened all through history and will continue until Jesus returns to wrap everything up and to take all Christians home to heaven. It is to do with compromise by leaders. We find an example of a good leader in 2 Chronicles 17:
1 Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm. 2 He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured. 3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.
Israel was divided in these days. The north comprised the back-slidden ten tribes of Israel, and the south the more faithful Judah. The kings of Israel were backsliders to a man! But the kings of Judah were a mixture - and Jehoshaphat was a good king (his name means 'Jehovah shall judge') and his reign proved his name to be meaningful. Jehoshaphat was like David - proof that he was modelled after God's heart, even if he occasionally made bad judgements as we all do. We read one account of this good king making a bad mistake in 2 Chronicles 18:1-2:
Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he allied himself by marriage with Ahab. 2 And some years later he went down to visit Ahab at Samaria. And Ahab slaughtered many sheep and oxen for him and the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.
Muslims ... mistakenly believe that the West is a Christian society
Jehoshaphat made the mistake of allying himself by marriage to Ahab. The result was nepotism - favouritism shown to relatives in conferring offices! Most people wouldn't know that the origin of the word came about when the corrupt Popes of Rome conferred special offices - 'jobs for the boys' - for their illegitimate sons who were euphemistically called 'nephews' (from the French and Italian - nepote = nephew!). Billy Graham and other deceived leaders, such as Arch-heretic Carey of the Anglicans, should note the affect of allying with Rome in any form. Family loyalty can be a dangerous thing. 'Blood is thicker than water' - but there is nothing thicker than ignoring the truth of God's Word to support heretics! The ignorance of the Anglican leadership will be demonstrated further when Carey retires, for his successors are no less likely to be corrupt, heretical wimps. Who can forget that Carey appeared on BBC radio with the Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, shortly after his appointment as Archbishop, and attacked Jewish evangelism and withdrew his patronage. It is no coincidence that the Church of England Commissioners recorded the staggering loss of about 850 million pounds soon after this declaration by Carey, thus threatening their own corrupt priesthood with insolvency. Unless there is repentance further judgement will come upon the Anglican denomination which refuses to bless the Jews by giving them the true gospel. Under the leadership of Carey the anti-Zionist and pro-Islamic Colin Chapman has wreaked further blows against Jewish evangelism, but those who curse God's people, the Jews, are found guilty of harming 'the apple of God's eye' (Zechariah 2:8):
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, "After glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.
God promised to Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 12:3):
'I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'
Many Holocaust survivors and their families forever identify Christianity with the Nazis - because they firmly believe that those people who murdered their families represented Christianity - and many Jews remember the worldwide pogroms and react in the same way. If you've watched archive film of World War II you will know that the Nazis managed to get the swastika erected above many churches in Germany before the war - and many people calling themselves Christians supported Hitler and his work and the battle against the rest of the world. Whether out of ignorance or not, these things happened and today we still reap the bitter effects of that action by so-called Christians. Many Muslims already mistakenly believe that the West is a Christian society. Whenever Islamic fundamentalists murder Christians they believe they are striking back at the US and Britain. And now, thanks to the images projected from the National Cathedral on September 14th, many more will believe that Christians are united with these other religions and initiated the actions against bin Laden in Afghanistan.
Did you see the interview with Billy Graham's son, Franklin, after the Memorial Service? He stated clearly that the US should hit the terrorists with everything! On the 16th November, 2001, NBC News reported:
The Bush administration continues to be careful about what it says concerning the religion of Osama bin Laden. However, it turns out that one of Bush's close friends in the American religious establishment, Franklin Graham has had some very harsh words for the Muslim faith. He delivered the benediction at George W. Bush's inauguration. His father, Billy, counselled a long list of presidents. But now Franklin is in trouble with political friends for comments made recently, calling the entire Islamic religion "wicked, violent and not of the same God."
"I don't believe this is a wonderful, peaceful religion," said Graham. "When you read the Koran and you read the verses from the Koran, it instructs the killing of the infidel, for those that are non-Muslim."
Asked by NBC News to clarify his statement, Graham repeated his charge that Islam, as a whole, is evil. "It wasn't Methodists flying into those buildings, it wasn't Lutherans," said Graham. "It was an attack on this country by people of the Islamic faith."
Graham's comments came as Bush, himself a deeply religious Christian, wished the world's 1 billion Muslims, "health, prosperity and happiness during Ramadan." The White House distanced itself from Graham's remarks Friday, saying the president "views Islam as a religion that preaches peace," and that the terrorists do not represent what Islam teaches.
"Obviously, Mr. Graham is tone deaf in this respect," says Newsweek religion editor Ken Woodward. "He's certainly not his father's son in terms of discretion."
[The Berean Call - www.thebereancall.org - comments: Franklin Graham has witnessed the wholesale slaughter of Christians by Muslims in the country of Sudan, including the bombing of his Samaritan's Purse hospital. He knows first-hand of the "evil" of Islam.]
