Pope Benedict XVI reasserts the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church … Orthodox churches defective and other Christian denominations … not true churches

July 10, 2007

To those familiar with the history of contradictions and political machinations of the Roman Catholic papacy it will come as no surprise that Benedict issued a statement asserting that Jesus established 'only one church' - and, of course, that church can only be the one led by the 'pope' - as he made clear:

'LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.

Benedict approved a document from his old offices at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that restates church teaching on relations with other Christians. It was the second time in a week the pope has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, the 1962-65 meetings that modernized the church.

On Saturday, Benedict revisited another key aspect of Vatican II by reviving the old Latin Mass. Traditional Catholics cheered the move, but more liberal ones called it a step back from Vatican II.

Benedict, who attended Vatican II as a young theologian, has long complained about what he considers the erroneous interpretation of the council by liberals, saying it was not a break from the past but rather a renewal of church tradition.

In the latest document -- formulated as five questions and answers -- the Vatican seeks to set the record straight on Vatican II's ecumenical intent, saying some contemporary theological interpretation had been "erroneous or ambiguous" and had prompted confusion and doubt.'

"Pope: So, you're not Catholic...then you're not in true church"

You must certainly know about this by now:

I wrote Joseph Farah and told him what I thought about the Pope's statements.

So Rick Warren wants to form an alliance with these guys? The SBC & AOG are doing the same.

And now David Jeremiah promotes the RC mysticism of "Visualizing Jesus"… Protestants are just as bad!

Blessings,

James

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for posting the expose on the Pope's comments as to who is the true church.

Here is my comment (quote me if you want to):

"I do not find it astonishing that the Cardinal Ratzinger, Director of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, known until 1908 as the "Sacred Congregation for the Universal
Inquisition", now Pope, would make this statement, as this has always been the doctrine of Roman Catholicism. He claims Roman Catholicism can trace its apostolic succession back to the Apostle Peter. But Peter would not recognize the Roman Catholic Church as the true church, because Peter believed all born again Christians are saints and priests. Peter also believed that necromancy was an abomination to the Lord. (If talking to the dead familiar spirits was evil in the sight of the Lord, what do you think God would think of praying to the dead?). Peter also believed in justification by faith. Peter also believed that baptism was a symbol of the pledge of a good conscience...how do infants make this pledge. Furthermore, Peter compares this clean conscience to the total global submersion of the earth in Noah's Flood...not sprinkling of water. Peter believed Jesus Christ has gone into Heaven where he must remain until he physically returns in glory at his Second Coming...not umpteenth coming in every Mass. Peter also believed Paul who condemned the traditions of men that the Roman Catholic Church has used to put men back under bondage. Peter believed in justification by faith alone! Peter warned of false teachers who would secretly introduce heresies into the church with stories they have made up, precisely as Roman Catholicism has done. Therefore, his Epistles do violence to the foundational doctrines of Roman Catholicism. Were he alive today he would have had to be excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church. Were he alive in the Middle Ages, Peter would have been burned at the stake."
